What changes the price

- Oil type
- Synthetic, semi-synthetic or conventional is the main price difference. Many modern engines require a synthetic of a specific viscosity — that is not a free choice.
- Quantity
- A four-cylinder and a V8 do not take the same volume. Some engines take nearly double.
- What the inspection covers
- Some garages include a visual inspection, topping up fluids and checking tires. That is a real difference between two prices that look comparable.
When an inspection is needed
If you do not know which oil your vehicle takes, just give the year, make and model — the garage will determine it. Do not accept a generic oil where the manufacturer specifies one.
